BCFS Staff Member Kathleen Maxwell–Rambie’s “Thriving Through Seasons of Grief” Helps Readers Through Life’s Challenges

At BCFS Health and Human Services, we help people through various life challenges, including natural disasters and health emergencies. Our nonprofit organization also offers services for foster and adoptive parents, helping them manage the stresses and joys of parenting. Many of our services are provided for people in crisis situations. To support these people and others to overcome challenges, our staff member Kathleen Maxwell-Rambie recently wrote “Thriving Through Seasons of Grief: How to Overcome Life’s Disappointments, Change and Loss.”

We are proud to call Maxwell–Rambie a BCFS Health and Human Services staff member since 2011. She works in development, community services, and communication. She wrote her book to help people who want to overcome personal loss and who have difficulty moving forward with the next chapter in their lives. She notes grief has much to teach us and is a universal process that will touch everyone’s life at some point.

Maxwell-Rambie lost her husband of thirty years and knew she had to go through the grieving process. As she mourned, she realized many people did not know much about grief or were hesitant – even unwilling – to discuss it. To help this dynamic, she wrote “Thriving Through Seasons of Grief” to talk about life’s myriad challenges transparently and conversationally. The book provides readers with a “tool belt” of skills and capabilities they can use throughout their lives. It’s ideal for anyone that’s had a loss, whether it’s a family member, coworker, close friend, or someone else that was important to the reader.

The book covers a definition of grief, why it’s so impactful, the challenges it creates, its ultimate benefits, and how to cope with grief as best as possible to move forward. Our staff members at BCFS Health and Human Services note that the book highlights the good that can come from grief. They observed that Maxwell-Rambie’s goal with the content was to add healing and understanding to a grieving heart, so people learn how to thrive and focus on happiness in their lives.

“Thriving Through Seasons of Grief: How to Overcome Life’s Disappointments, Change and Loss” is available at Barnes and Noble, Amazon.com, the iTunes store, and other outlets.
