Moving Abroad? Singapore’s Education System Is Stronger Than Ever

If you’ve spent years exploring new countries and embracing different cultures with your family, then there’s a good chance that you’ll eventually find a new destination where you want to settle down and start laying some roots. The only problem is that expats often worry about making sure that their children continue to get a good education when they move abroad.

The good news is that education in Singapore is more diverse than ever. It’s always been a priority of the Singapore government to put education first, which is why it’s currently seen as a world leader in academics. In fact, for many families, the opportunity to learn in a diverse school like the ones in Singapore is the main reason to consider a relocation.

What kind of education is available in Singapore?

If you choose to move to Singapore with your children, then you’ll have two academic routes available to you. The first option that you can choose is to send your children to an international school. SAIS in Singapore offers an education that embraces both the culture of the country and allows children to learn in their own language.

Alternatively, you can choose to teach your children from home, but this means that they miss out on experiencing the education system at its finest. It could also make it harder for them to socialize with the children who will become their friends and peers in the years to come.

The benefits of international schools

A great thing about international schools is that there are plenty of other parents in your situation who you can turn to for help and guidance when you’re uncertain of how to make the most of your new home.

Of course, there’s more to get out of international schools than a strong sense of support and community. You can enroll your students to continue the same curriculum that they started back home. This means that they get the full education that they need without any disruption or problems with their grades. Most international schools also offer an international baccalaureate (IB) in addition to their national curriculum. This IB caters for people of all ages and is offered in French, English and Spanish.

Another thing to note is that most international schools in Singapore are non-selective. This means that they don’t choose students based on their academic abilities – instead, everyone is welcome.

Embracing foreign education

For parents considering the move to Singapore, there are plenty of websites that can tell you more about the schooling available. Remember that your children will also have plenty of opportunities to expand their education with extracurricular activities.

Singapore is one of the countries leading the way towards a brighter future for expat students. With a fantastic academic background and a commitment to providing youngsters with the support that they need, these academic environments can help to eliminate much of the stress and concern associated with moving to a new country.
