If you have ever hunted in a cold below -20 degrees Fahrenheit, then you might know the importance of staying warm and alert while waiting for the shooting moment. It is indeed a challenge to keep warm while sitting for long hours. Therefore, staying warm is quite necessary and a key factor in hunting success. Otherwise, your hunt will likely be miserable and least productive. In addition to having Cold Weather Hunting Clothes, professionals also share some additional tips to beat the cold. You can survive well in plummeting temperatures and hunt comfortably if you follow these effective tips. These are as follows:

Use a Cardboard

A piece of cardboard can play a crucial role in blocking out the cold. You can place a piece underneath your feet to block the cold and prevent it from penetrating through your boot sole. Boots can allow cold to penetrate through them. The temperature can go low as -60 degrees Fahrenheit. You can tear cardboard and stuff the pieces into the holes and cracks of a box that you can wrap around your boots. This will prevent cold air from getting to you.

Get Boot Blankets

Good boot blankets are a hack to keep cold air from reaching your skin. Some hunters are very sensitive to cold, and no matter how much they insulate themselves, they catch a cold. You can get inexpensive pair of boot blankets that can act as an insulator for cold hunts. You have to wrap them around your hunting boots and then place heat packs between blankets and your boots. This will create enough warmth for you.

Try Heat Packs

Just like the boot blankets, there are heat packs available. These come in different sizes and are disposable heat packs that are meant for larger body parts. You can get a bunch of them and wrap them around your midsection to keep your lower body warm. This way you can prevent necessary heat from the lower body to fade away.

Put Double Hats

You must have heard that your head is the most sensitive part for heat loss. Eighty percent of the heat loss occurs through your head. It is seen traditionally that people wear hats and caps in winters. That helps to prevent the cold breeze to affect your head skin and penetrate through it. You should wear two hats, one of fleece and the other made up of wool to keep your head warm. Beanies are the hunters’ best friends.

Take the Right Meal

While you are on a cold-weather hunt, you must be careful about your food. A spike in blood sugar can make you cold. You have to avoid it, and for doing so you should take vegetables, seeds, fruits, and nuts. Eat foods that are high in carbohydrates and are protein-rich. These can be unprocessed meats and protein-rich beans. Anything high in saturated fats like candy, bread, and crackers are not advised.

Hunting in cold weather is such a crucial task. There are certain prerequisites and pro tips that you must be aware of. If the above pro tips are followed correctly, you can have a better and successful hunting experience in cold weather.
